Advanced Key Result functionality, team settings, emails, and enterprise reporting
With 2020 (finally) in the rearview mirror, we’re already taking on big things in 2021! January was a month for annual planning, setting OKRs, and perhaps making some new year resolutions, and we have a host of new features and updates to help your teams to achieve your goals. Check out some of the new updates:
Add and archive Key Results
In the spirit of annual planning, and better understanding how people use the archive KR feature, we upgraded this functionality within the tool. You can now easily manage key results from objectives that carry over from quarter to quarter, with the added assurance of understanding how archiving a key result will affect other linked objectives and key results.
After launching Goals 2.0 in October and having some great customer conversations, we wanted to include the ability to add a KR to a sub-objective directly. You can now connect year-long objectives to quarter-long sub-objectives can be a hassle, especially when adding individual key results inside nested sub-objectives.
We’ve audited our current transactional emails, simplified the communication, removed unnecessary emails, and refreshed the look and feel of all emails. We also redesigned the “Summary” email, which captures a highlight from everyone’s reflection.
As a reminder, you can turn off or on email notifications sent by Koan about Reflections, Key Results, or Best Practices, in your Profile Settings.
Refreshed Team Settings
We've kicked off the first of many steps to improving Team settings. We created a new UI and “tile” view, as well as a new “general” page where users can update the Team name, select the current time zone, identify the parent team with our new searchable team picker, and delete your team, if needed. As part of our team settings work, we’ve removed the ability to customize the “summary” label in reflections, for a simpler user experience. If you’re concerned about this, a common workaround is to create a custom question.
There’s a ton of information that’s curated in Koan, and now we offer a new way to view that data and understand broad trends across all of your teams. Our new beta Enterprise Reporting* provides advanced insights and data, beyond the reporting within Koan. At a glance, the reporting provides an overall goal confidence chart, metric progress by team, and average reflections completed over time, then dives deeper into these metrics grouped by team. While this feature is only available for our Enterprise customers, it’s a great way to view goal and reflection insights in a different light, to make sure your team is all moving in the same direction. *Please note: that this feature is only available for Enterprise customers, and is currently in beta. We are still working on improving this offering and if you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
We’re still hard at work, continuing to make Koan the simplest (and cost-effective) way to help your teams stay aligned and productive. We’ve got some exciting product updates on the horizon, so keep an eye out for news as 2021 continues.
